On Sunday, April 14th, the Office of Global Affairs (OGA) hosted the TCU Singing Competition at the auditorium on Jianguo Campus. The event brought together international and local student teams for a night filled with music, creativity, and cultural expression. A total of 9 groups competed for different awards, including 1st to 3rd place, Best Cultural Integration Award (最佳文化融合獎), and the eye-catching “Why So Beautiful Award” (怎麼這麼美獎). The competition was not only a platform for showcasing talent but also a celebration of diversity and student unity.
The event officially began at 6:00 PM, with the opening remarks delivered by OGA staff and student emcees. Each group took turns performing songs that reflected their culture, teamwork, and musical creativity. Some incorporated traditional outfits, choreography, or modern remixes, creating a vibrant and dynamic stage atmosphere. In addition to the competition, the event featured a special guest performance and a panel of invited judges, who evaluated the teams based on criteria like vocal performance, creativity, stage presence, and group coordination. The audience, made up of both students and faculty members, responded with cheers, claps, and enthusiastic support throughout the night. The atmosphere was festive, energetic, and full of appreciation for the diverse talents on stage. Participants shared that the event gave them a chance to bond with their teammates, step out of their comfort zones, and express their identity through music. Many attendees said they were impressed by the creativity and effort put into each performance. The organizers also felt proud to witness such enthusiasm from both performers and the audience, noting that the event went smoothly thanks to everyone’s cooperation and support. The highlight of the night was the award ceremony, where winners were called on stage and presented with certificates and applause.
