On Sunday, April 14th, the Office of Global Affairs (OGA) organized a unique outdoor activity “Paddle and Chill” the Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) Adventure. The event began with students gathering at Jianguo Campus at 7:00 PM, where they boarded the bus that would take them to the SUP location (Liyu lake) . Designed to promote physical wellness, adventure, and bonding among students, the event brought together participants from different countries and departments, eager to explore a new challenge on water while making new memories. Upon arrival, students were guided through basic instructions on safety and SUP techniques. The event venue provided changing rooms, making it convenient for all participants. All 21 students came prepared with their swimwear or workout-friendly attire, sunscreen, towels, water, and snacks. as had been shared in the group message prior to the event. As they paddled through calm waters, students had the chance to unwind in nature, enjoy the peaceful surroundings, and experience a rare mix of excitement and relaxation. The activity also helped many step out of their comfort zones, making it a fun personal milestone for several attendees.
The atmosphere throughout the event was lively and filled with laughter. The bonding that occurred during the paddling and breaks created a warm sense of community. Many students shared that they appreciated the chance to do something active and refreshing, away from academic stress. Some expressed that it was their first time trying SUP and were thankful for the opportunity. The event team noted how smoothly the group managed time and supported each other throughout, especially during the packing and return process.
The Paddle and Chill was not just a fun outing; it was a meaningful reminder of the importance of balance between studies and well-being, adventure and responsibility. Events like these allow international to step away from daily routines, form connections, and create memories that last beyond campus life. We hope to continue offering experiences that bring our diverse student community closer together through shared exploration and joy.
