Caribbean Collective

On April 30, 2026, the Office of Global Affairs (OGA) hosted Caribbean Collective at Zhizhu Café 2, Jianguo Campus. The event brought together students from various Caribbean countries to share their cultures through food, music, language, and interactive activities. With strong participation from both local and international students, the event created a vibrant and immersive environment where attendees could explore the diversity of Caribbean culture in a dynamic and engaging way.

The event featured students from Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and Belize, each contributing unique elements of their culture. One of the highlights was the wide variety of Caribbean food, including rice pudding, Caribbean macaroni and cheese, and the distinctive Caribbean chocolate tea, which was a new and memorable experience for many participants. Through these dishes, students were introduced to the flavors and traditions of Caribbean cuisine.

In addition to food, participants also learned about language and greetings, including how to greet in the local language from Saint Lucia. This cultural sharing allowed students to gain insight into daily communication and cultural identity within Caribbean communities.

The event was highly interactive, featuring a range of activities and games that encouraged participation from everyone. Students took part in quizzes with prizes, as well as traditional Caribbean games such as sack race, lime and spoon, and thread a needle. These activities brought energy and excitement to the space, with students actively joining, cheering, and engaging with one another.

The presence of Caribbean music further enhanced the lively atmosphere, creating a festive and immersive experience. The venue was filled to capacity, and the enthusiasm of the participants made the event feel energetic, welcoming, and full of life.

Overall, Caribbean Collective was a highly successful event that showcased the richness and diversity of Caribbean culture. Students were actively engaged, curious, and eager to learn, making the cultural exchange both meaningful and enjoyable. The combination of food, games, music, and interaction created a memorable experience for all participants.

The event not only introduced students to new cultures but also strengthened connections among the campus community. It demonstrated the value of immersive and interactive cultural events, leaving participants with a deeper appreciation of the Caribbean and a strong sense of global connection within Tzu Chi University..
