On October 22, 2025, Tzu Chi University’s Office of Global Affairs (OGA) held its annual Global Village 2025 celebration at the Student Activity Center on the Jieren Campus. The event showcased the multicultural spirit of the university, gathering students from different countries to present their customs, cuisine, and artistic traditions. Through hands-on booths, performances, and cultural activities, the event fostered an inviting space for local and international students to connect and deepen their intercultural understanding.

This year’s Global Village featured cultural booths from Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, and the Philippines, with additional participation from the International Student Club and the Indonesian Student Association. Each booth offered a distinct experience:

  • Indonesia welcomed attendees to try batik painting, explaining the cultural meaning behind this traditional craft.

  • Malaysia highlighted the elegance of Nyonya culture—a blend of Malay and Chinese influences—through displays and storytelling.

  • The Philippines brought the charm of Filipino street markets to campus, sharing local snacks and a warm community atmosphere.

  • Vietnam and other student groups hosted interactive games and shared everyday stories from their home countries.

The event also featured stage performances, including a traditional Nepalese dance and a band performance by Indonesian students. The attendance of Honorary President Luo added a sense of encouragement and support. Visitors enjoyed a full day of music, cultural exchange, and delicious food.

The entire venue buzzed with energy—students wandered between booths, chatted, tried activities, snapped photos, and gathered to enjoy the shows. The combination of performances, games, and cultural showcases created a lively and inclusive environment. Many attendees shared that the event helped them gain a deeper appreciation for different cultures while giving international students a meaningful opportunity to proudly share their heritage. Thanks to the teamwork of OGA staff and dedicated student volunteers, the event ran smoothly from beginning to end.

Overall, Global Village 2025 successfully celebrated the beauty of diversity within the Tzu Chi University community. It strengthened cultural bonds on campus and emphasized the importance of learning from one another. The Office of Global Affairs sincerely thanks everyone who contributed to the event. Looking ahead, OGA hopes to expand next year’s Global Village with more space, more performances, and an even wider variety of cultural booths—so that even more students can participate and celebrate the richness of cultures from around the world.
