How to Apply for Scholarship

Create an Account

Please remember the email address you used when registering online, as it will be needed later to log in to the application system to modify information, upload documents, and check eligibility review and admission results.

Fill in Application Form

 Basic information includes your name in Chinese and English, date of birth, country of birth, email address, education background, work experience, and other relevant details.

 

Choose your Desired Major

Each applicant can choose to a maximum 3 departments simultaneously. However, if accepted to multiple programs, the applicant can only choose one program to enroll in.

Graduation Certificate

Applicants who have already graduated should provide an official graduation certificate.

  • Fresh graduates who have not yet received their diploma may submit a certificate of expected graduation or a certificate of enrollment issued by their current school.

Academic Transcript

An official transcript of academic records from your current or most recent school is required.

  • The transcript should list courses taken, grades received, and explain the grading system.

  • Example: A bachelor’s degree applicant should submit transcripts from all high school years, while a graduate applicant should submit transcripts from their undergraduate program.

Proof of Nationality

Applicants must submit a valid passport or other official identification that confirms nationality.

  • Example: A copy of your passport’s information page or a government-issued national ID card.

Proof of Language Proficiency

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the minimum language requirements for their chosen program (and visa, if applicable).

  • English-taught programs: IELTS, TOEFL, or other recognized English proficiency test scores.

  • Chinese-taught programs: TOCFL, HSK, or other recognized Chinese proficiency test scores.

  • Required levels or scores vary by department.

Proof of Language Proficiency

Applicants must demonstrate their ability to study in the language of instruction (either Chinese or English, depending on the program).

  • Chinese-taught programs: Submit a valid TOCFL (Test of Chinese as a Foreign Language) certificate, usually Level 3 or above.

  • English-taught programs: Submit a valid TOEFL, IELTS, or equivalent certificate. Minimum scores vary by department.

Letters of Recommendation

Most departments require two recommendation letters from teachers, professors, or supervisors who know your academic ability or personal qualities.

  • Letters should be written in English or Chinese (or include a certified translation).

  • Recommenders should describe your academic performance, character, and potential for success at Tzu Chi University.

Documents Required by Each Department / Program

In addition to the general application requirements, each department may request extra documents specific to their field of study.

Recent Photograph

Applicants must provide a passport-sized photograph taken within the last 6 months.

  • The photo should be in color, with a plain background.

  • Example: A standard 2-inch (35mm × 45mm) photo used for passport or official ID purposes.

Proof of Financial Capability

Applicants must provide documentation that demonstrates the ability to cover tuition fees and living expenses during their studies in Taiwan.

  • Accepted documents include a bank statement, scholarship award letter, or other official proof of financial support.

  • Example: A bank statement showing a minimum balance required by the Ministry of Education or proof of sponsorship from a government/organization.

Interview and Examination

 Some departments may require an interview or a written test. Please refer to the specific requirements of each department.

Submitting an application to Tzu Chi University is free of charge
